Ari
Guitar / Drums / Theory
Ari is a session drummer, composer, music director and teacher in his third and final year at Monash University studying a BMus majoring in Popular Music. He is a founding member of the Melbourne band UGLIEBOY, and a drummer, collaborator with artists such as Harriet Wraith and Alice Ruby. Ari has toured nationally a multitude of times with Australian indie rock band Moaning Lisa and Queen Tribute act “Queen Rhapsody.”
He has been teaching drums, guitar and theory at Sth Side Music Academy since January 2024.​​​

Leah
Voice / Piano / Theory
Leah is a classical soprano, performer and teacher currently in her third year of her undergrad degree, studying at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. Some of Leah’s classical music highlights include premiering Soprano Deborah Cheetham’s “Magalu Gaangu”, as the soloist, at the Melbourne Recital Centre in 2022 as well as being invited to perform a selection of repertoire on 3MBS FM’s “Classics” program. She has been a member of the Victorian Opera Youth Chorus for four years, performing various solo roles.
Leah has been teaching both singing and piano at Sth Side Music Academy since July 2023. Leah began her singing journey back in 2015 learning from non-other than Sth Side’s founder, Melissa,

Sydney
Voice / Piano / Guitar / Songwriting / Music Production / Theory
Sydney has taught music over the past 7 years: from kindergarteners learning piano, to university students at the VCA & MCM studying Music Composition. Sydney has a BMus (Honours) specialising in Interactive Composition at The University of Melbourne. Sydney professionally releases electronic pop on streaming platforms which she produces, records and writes herself. Her music has been featured on Triple J, Rage, ABC News, and more. She frequently performs across Melbourne for her own project and local bands where she sings, plays the keytar, and uses samplers.
At Sth Side Music Academy, Sydney can teach singing, piano, guitar, production, theory, and songwriting.

Tahlia
Piano / Voice / Theory
Tahlia is a jazz vocalist and classical pianist, with a BMus from ANU, and a BMus (Hons) specialising in Ethnomusicology from the University of Melbourne. She is currently working towards her AMUSA.
Diversified in her craft, Tahlia has additionally undertaken recording and production courses, curated a concert series of experimental music, managed live audio and visuals at large-scale music events, and directs multiple high school choirs. She is particularly passionate about academia in relation to music, making her an exceptional coach in voice, piano and theory.

Lily
Drums / Guitar / Piano / Songwriting / Theory
Lily, a musician originally from Newcastle, is currently studying a BMus (Music Production) at Collarts. In addition to teaching guitar, piano, singing and drums at Sth Side, she works as a music therapy assistant in a parent - child group aimed at 0 - 5 year olds.
Lily frequently gigs around Melbourne playing a variety of instruments, and also exhibiting skills in a wide range of genres including classical music, as well as writing, production, and recording music.

Charlotte
Voice / Piano / Theory
Charlotte is a classical soprano with a Bachelor of Music (Honours) Majoring in Classical Voice from Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. Charlotte has frequented Melbourne Opera’s productions alongside many incredible Australian artists, as well as performing in the Melbourne Conservatorium of music’s The Magic Flute and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Recently, she performed the role of Euridice in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice at Scot’s Church in Melbourne, and as the Soprano Soloist in Mozart’s Requiem for MONUCS. Charlotte founded @operainthecountry, which has seen performances at regional festivals such as Shepparton Festival and Ripple Festival, as well as receive coverage from ABC.

Hattie
Voice / Bass Guitar / Piano
Hattie Johnston is a mezzo soprano from Auckland, New Zealand, in her third year studying a BMus at the University of Melbourne, majoring in classical voice. Some of Hattie’s recent performance highlights include touring Europe with the Choir of Trinity College in 2023, playing Heather Duke in Trinity College’s 2024 production of Heathers, and Morticia Addams in The Addams Family in 2023. Hattie is experienced in a variety of instruments, performing in contemporary bands on bass guitar and as a backing vocalist; as well as Cello in Symphony and Chamber Orchestras.

Lily

Lily Flynn is a classical Soprano vocalist and composer currently completing her Honours degree in Performance at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. She has been teaching singing and piano professionally for four years at various across Melbourne. Lily has vast experience performing in professional ensembles and Operas across Melbourne. She recently received 2nd Prize in the RMP Aria Competition and 1st Prize in the Opera Scholars Australia Art Song Competition. Lily’s choral and solo vocal compositions have been performed across Melbourne and featured on 3MBS.
